Micromax Bolt A40 pops up on the company website

The Bolt A40 is the latest gadget from the Micromax stables to hit India and looking at the specifications, we can safely say that it falls in the entry-level category. Although it has been listed on the official company website, nothing has been mentioned about the price and availability details of this smartphone.

Even though the Bolt A40 runs the Android OS, it has been blessed with a slightly outdated version of the platform. The Micromax phone gorges on Gingerbread 2.3.5 and we are not expecting it to receive any OTA update for the later versions of the OS. At least the OEM hasn’t revealed anything about a software upgrade as yet. The intuitive interface that the operating system brings is displayed on a 4.5-inch TFT touchscreen of 480 x 854p resolution.

A 0.3MP front-facing snapper is accompanied by a modest 2MP rear camera. The gadget is compatible with common audio and video formats like MP3, AAC, MIDI, WAV, 3GP, MP4 and more and features FM radio as well, for keeping prospective users entertained while on the move. Furthermore, a Spreadtrum SC6820 processor sprinting at a speed of 1GHz fuels the Micromax smartphone from within and seeks assistance from 512MB of RAM.

This handset is powered by a 1500mAh battery which manages to cough up talk time of about 4.5 hours and standby time of close to 175 hours. And if its 512MB of inbuilt memory proves to be insufficient, users have the option of sliding in a microSD card into the dedicated expansion slot to increase it by up to 32GB.

The Micromax Bolt A40 should be made available very soon.
