Top Tips for Diablo III on PlayStation 3

Need some help defeating the dark forces of Diablo III on PlayStation 3?
Check out these top tips from game director Josh Mosqueira.

Hell has been unleashed on PlayStation 3 in the epic pick-up-and-slay role-playing adventure Diablo III. You play as one of humanity's last defenders, facing the undead armies and epic monsters that have come to terrorise the land of Sanctuary for the first time on PS3.
Choose to face the hordes of the Burning Hells as a Barbarian, Demon Hunter, Monk, Witch Doctor or Wizard, but beware - the forces of evil could overwhelm any unprepared adventurer. So who better to give some useful help and advice on staying alive – and getting the best loot – than game director Josh Mosqueira?

If in doubt, dodge

Avoid incoming attacks or reposition yourself for more strategic use of your skills with a simple flick of the right stick. This manoeuvre is especially useful for ranged classes – like Wizards and Demon Hunters – but even a Barbarian can appreciate being able to sidestep a fireball.

Always use the best gear

You'll find epic loot everywhere you travel during your quest, so we've provided an easy way to know whether something you've picked up is an upgrade – without having to pause the action. Simply hit the UP button to scroll through the latest pieces of gear you've gathered. A green arrow pointing up lets you know you've found an upgrade . . . so press the CROSS button to equip it and start using it straight away.

There's no escaping your deadly skills
Focusing your attacks can be the most effective way to approach a fight. If you spy a demon that looks particularly menacing, hold down the L2 button to lock on to it; all your attacks will then be aimed straight at its face.

Did someone say "epic loot"?
Diablo III features targeted loot drops, too, so you're more likely to find upgrades that are tailored for the class you're playing. And since this is an equal opportunity treasure hunt, everyone playing together in local co-op games can reap the rewards and get the best from their character class.

Take on hellish monsters
The more you journey through Sanctuary, the more demons and monsters you'll encounter. Be careful when you see a pack of enemies with a blue or yellow glow around them. This glow means they're an elite pack – far more powerful than their peers – and they're also carrying better treasure.

Watch out for Treasure Goblins

You'll meet these greedy little fellows occasionally, each carrying a sack full of riches. Let your team know you've spotted a treasure goblin and focus your efforts on beating the treasure out of them. Watch out, though: these sneaky creatures will try to lure you into packs of monsters as they make their escape.

One sofa to rule them all
It's no fun having to wait around while your local co-op buddy answers the door or takes a bathroom break. Diablo III is designed so that when a break is needed, the rest of the group can keep playing – idle party members will automatically keep up with the group while they're away.
Think you're ready to stare evil in the face and send it back to where it came from? You can pick up Diablo III on PlayStation 3 from our online store now. See you in hell!
